Summer at the Black Sea Coast
The eastern Bulgarian coast is washed by the Black Sea. 380 km marvelous stretch of beaches, calm and safe sea, clear water and healthy air, fine golden sand and natural dunes, mineral water springs, blue flag winning resorts, holiday villages and campsites. Average air temperature in the summer is about 28°C, water temperature - 25°C. There are more than 240 hours of sunshine in May and September and more than 300 hours in July and August. The two international airports of Varna and Bourgas connect the Bulgarian Riviera to the world.
Winter Resorts
Pirin and Rila mountain treks: These are the highest mountains in Southern Central Europe with summits reaching almost 3000 m (9,842.8'). Wilderness, forests, lakes, monasteries, old towns and villages, where old local traditions have survived to the present day, are linked by thousands of kilometers of good paths served with mountain lodges.
Pamporovo is a modern ski resort in the heart of the Rhodopi mountain, the mountain of the mythical singer Orpheus. It is the most southern skiing resort in Europe. It is the sunniest Bulgarian mountain resort with wonderful snow throughout the whole season. Pamporovo is situated on 1650 m above the sea level at the foot of peak Snejanka (1926 m). It is 260 km (161 miles) far from Sofia and 85km (52 miles) from Plovdiv.
1800 m (5,9055') above sea level, Vitosha is only 17 km (10.5 miles) far from Sofia, the capital of Bulgaria. This is the highest ski resort of Bulgaria. The mountain is favorite for skiing in the winter and trekking in the summer. There are wonderful opportunities for winter tourism and skiing.
